Two ex-Presidents of the United States are currently in the news. One because he is approaching the end of his physical life on this earth and the other because it seems like the crimes he has committed during his pre-presidency, presidency, and post-presidency are finally catching up with him. Jimmy Carter and Donald Trump. How could the United States elect two men who are such polar opposites of each other to the same office? The fact that Donald Trump failed to receive a majority of votes cast and that he cheated to win the election by paying off porn-star Stormy Daniels for her silence does not reduce the irony that the United States elected probably the most decent, humble, moral, and ethical man to the presidency as well as the most corrupt, arrogant, immoral, and hate-filled man to ever occupy the Oval Office. And what is even crazier is that Jimmy Carter was sent packing from office, dumped by his fellow citizens and widely viewed as a failure, while millions of people continue to believe that Trump the criminal had the election stolen from him and view him as a hero and a defender of American greatness. Many of them, I am convinced, would kill and die for him. When I stop to think about it, I mean really stop and think, it turns my stomach.
